RSS for Teaching and Learning

 

I. Introduction To RSS
  • Allows changing web-content to be delivered directly to you-- rather than clicking to different sites to check yourself.
  • Can be used for a number of formats, from text to video.
  • Rss used to be only readable by aggregators such as Feed Reader http://www.feedreader.com/. But now, most browsers, particularly Firefox and Opera, have readers built in.
  • Because their content changes frequently, news sites are one of the primary users of RSS
  • Podcasts are also RSS
